A Whole New World
The level at which human society is developing has largely dropped jaws when you consider the current state- of technology we have created. For thousands of years, we have had ancient technology, independent culture, and have known little about the places beyond our influence. Now it takes about three seconds for you to pull out an iPhone and take a child you don’t even know on Facebook from scratch.
It is crazy to think about the impact our developments have had on global unity. A few years ago, Europeans spent their free time wondering if the country was flat while the Native Americans lived a very different life in the Atlantic. New forms of technology and the birth of the Internet have amazingly united us.
Americanization of Other Countries: Good or Bad?
America is one of the biggest giants of this expansion. Compared with other countries in terms of age, it looks like a baby. Compared to other numbers like full of money and military might, however, it looks like a baseball player who took steroids after their year- of rookie and became star-studded. American growth can be attributed to the wealth of successful corporations that have thrived under the monetary policy. They are motivated by financial incentives and thus have begun to expand to other countries for greater profit.
Thanks to the new global unity- commercialization is flourishing in foreign areas. Humankind is moving towards more of a melting pot culture. But most people do not think so. The concept of melting states that all cultures come together to form one community. Instead, it looks more like the commercialized- nature of America is simply taking over and rendering other cultures obsolete. Let’s take a look at a few cultures that have been impacted by Americanization.
Latin American Countries
Keep in mind that this is a full population compared to other models. When Europeans first settled in America, there was a lot of fighting over the- morality of different places. Many different countries were tearing down the places where the customs; that circulated in South America and Mexico became very different.
In some of the current plans, these countries have struggled to come up- with a bigger problem: NAFTA. The North American Free Trade Agreement came about in the Bill Clinton era and has since wreaked havoc on Latin American countries. Essentially the agreement allows big companies like Chiquita and Wal-Mart to operate freely in their countries for cheaper labor. While providing employment, the proceeds of the sale and use of retail companies have returned to the United States and have led many lands into economic turmoil.
Mexico, for example, once had a successful system of jihadist farms that made them independent. Now large farms and companies have eliminated much of it by replacing it with unsustainable farming systems. As factories fight over land ownership, there have also been several groups of indigenous people who are no longer in touch with their original lifestyles.
Japan
For a long time, Japan followed a strict policy of isolation. They valued the sanctity of their culture and did not want any other part of the world to interfere with the- morals of their country. And when the Americans rushed into the world, things are quickly changing to the former Eastern culture.
A little evidence of our incoming culture is their madness known as KFC Kentucky Christmas. It is estimated that only around 1% of Japan’s population is Christian. Because of this Christmas is an outdoor idea for most of the people who live there. When KFC started a franchise abroad, they came up with a campaign to promote their food by Christmas. It has since evolved into a yearly Japanese trend, and in some areas, the lines for a bucket of chicken last longer than two hours.
India
Like we mentioned earlier, America is one of the youngest countries. If you think of America as a baby in the middle of the world, think of India as one of the great ones. The country has one of the oldest traditions, dating back to about 3300 BC. It has become densely populated, and in recent years commercialization has run rampant.
Well-known companies use India to outsource work, and every year more and more companies are out there. Amazon and Starbucks recently announced that they would be expanding into the world and taking advantage of the population.
